FROM class of 2016:
What is the greatest piece of advice you would give to an incoming IB freshman (if you seriously wanted them to succeed)?
ANSWERS:
Don't procrastinate. Make friends in each class to help when absent and help if you don't understand anything in class.
be YOURSELF. colleges don't want a brain on a stick (thank you for this advice Mrs. Chance), but someone who has passions, and interests, and does something because they're entirely interested in it
"Take the wheel" Don't let the school year consume you, work ahead, and don't skip too much
Don't give up on yourself
You seriously need sleep like seriously get your life together and keep your priorities in order.
TEACHERS AND COUNSELORS WILL BE YOUR BESTFRIEND
keep your eyes set on your goal. it's so easy to lose motivation and lose hope in yourself and your future after so much stress and not getting exactly what you wanted or thought you might have wanted, but as long as you understand that everything WILL work out in the end, you will be just fine. you will live. you will thrive.
Make priorities for how you want to meet your own goals and don't compare yourself to others
Dont skip
Know how the grading system works, semester grade
Get as far as you can as early as you can. Do what you like rather than what everyone else wants you to.
Get involved as much as possible but don't forget about those things you love to do as a child. You are still a child enjoy it the most that you can.
Don't take yourself too seriously and recognize that you have limits, you should not sacrifice your mental and physical health for IB, if it's at that point you need to make a serious decision of whether you can change and be more healthy and stay in the program or if you could succeed better outside of it.
Be humble, you are about to go on a hard but memory full journey; the work ethic you put in early will DEFINETLY define your next four years, good luck!
